Dry and chapped lips are very susceptible and can interfere with appearance. In fact, if allowed to drag on, it can interfere with health. The skin of the lips may look darker, peel and bleed, especially if you don't treat them well.
Lips that are healthy and moist will certainly feel more comfortable and more attractive to look at, but there are many factors that can cause interference with the lips, especially lips that are dry or chapped. Some of them are due to environmental conditions such as weather or room temperature, body conditions that are experiencing certain diseases, or bad habits.

Moreover, the lips do not have oil glands like the skin on other parts of the body, so the lips cannot lubricate themselves. You also need to pay more attention to the maintenance of this section to stay healthy.
To prevent and treat dry and chapped lips, there are separate ways to maintain healthy lips that are different from skin care on other parts of the body:
- Use petroleum jelly, a material that can be applied to the surface of the skin, is useful to protect the fluid levels on the surface of the skin. Thus, the skin will retain moisture while helping the healing process in the event of injury to the skin. The method is quite easy, which is to apply petroleum jelly on the lips regularly.
- Use lip balm that contains sunscreen for any outdoor activities to prevent the effects of ultraviolet exposure which can make the skin including the lips dry and easy to peel.
- If your lips are sensitive, avoid being exposed to allergens which can trigger a recurrence of allergies. One example of allergens is cosmetic products that contain fragrances or certain chemicals.
- For you lipstick users, avoid changing your lipstick too often, especially those that are matte, because it can make your lips more dry. If necessary, use a moisturizer before and after using lipstick. You can also use petroleum jelly to remove lipstick, as well as moisturize it.
- If the lips look peeling, avoid tugging at the peeling skin. Because, can make it bleed. The solution, use a lip scrub to remove dead skin cells. Put it on the lips using your fingers, then rub gently, and use lip balm afterwards. You can even make it yourself with honey or petroleum jelly mixed with a little sugar.
